Counselling provides a confidential space for individuals to explore events from the past that may still be impacting. It can also be used to look at difficulties being experienced in the current time or worries about the future.
Many of us are very skilled at 'pushing through' emotional difficulties or 'sticking a smile on' and trying to deal with things alone, when on the inside they are suffering.
Making the time to attend to issues that we are struggling with psychologically is an investment in your emotional wellbeing, leading to a deeper understanding of self, relationships and your responses to the world around you.
Counselling can help to address symptoms associated with painful and traumatic feelings.

Family therapy offers opportunity for transformation across the whole family system. Beginning with developing an understanding of the difficulties from everyone’s perspective, the goal is to reduce blame and foster a culture of working together to bring about change. Space is made for everyone to have a voice, with attention paid to communication, behavioural patterns and multigenerational factors. The aim is for parents and children to benefit from learning within sessions and shifting within their familial relationships.

Attending therapy as a family can feel very daunting and Marsha aims to support families in being comfortable and feeling safe to speak together and explore difficulties. Marsha trained at King's College London, completing MSc Family Therapy and is skilled in understanding the unique challenges faced by families and also exploring cultural elements of family life.
Do get in contact for an informal conversation around the needs of your family and how Marsha may be able to support.
In circumstances where parents and carers have specific concerns about their children, Marsha can provide 1-2-1 counselling for young people. Working to support children and young people in exploring and making sense of their feelings and emotions, as well as navigating daily relationships with peers and family is an area of specialist interest. Marsha has experience of building supportive therapeutic relationships with young people from many different backgrounds and varying level of needs, including looked-after children in local authority care.
Adolescence in particular, can be a very confusing and turbulent time for young people and having a space away from the family, with an understanding professional can be very containing for them. Where appropriate, a 'blended' therapy approach of individual sessions with family members, combined with family therapy sessions can be utilised.
Sessions can be offered in person at therapy space in Hackney or Enfield. Online sessions are also available. If suitable arrangement can be agreed, sessions within the school setting can also be organised.
